TULSA, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma of Edmond, the oldest institution of higher learning in Oklahoma and which rests in a hotbed of some of the country’s finest golf venues, has become the 19th Professional Golf Management Program nationwide to be accredited by The PGA of America.

The PGA/PGM Program currently includes 2,337 students enrolled at 18 universities, with an average of 130 students at each university. The University of Central Oklahoma has nearly 16,000 total students enrolled on its 200-acre campus. Students are offered a five-year program where they are required to complete 137 total credit hours, 37 of which are dedicated to specific PGM course work. The first graduating class would be in 2013.

“The PGA of America is proud to welcome the University of Central Oklahoma into a family of outstanding universities that are committed to producing the next generation of leaders in the golf industry,” said PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb. “The PGA Professional Golf Management Program has produced outstanding graduates who have demonstrated their expertise in conducting the business of golf and in maintaining the highest standards and ideals by which PGA Professionals have followed for more than 90 years.”

The objectives of the PGA Professional Golf Management Program at the University of Central Oklahoma include:
