Academic Policy Manual

Introduction:

The academic policies included in this manual have been developed to support, and maintain consistency within, the hierarchy of regulations, standards, and guidelines that govern the academic component of the University of Central Oklahoma: the federal and state government, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE), the Regional University System of Oklahoma  (RUSO), and the university.  UCO academic policies integrated into this manual interpret or support this hierarchy and/or specify the manner in which a higher level policy is to be implemented.  They also span multiple units within the academic affairs organization, as opposed to those within individual units.  The specific policies of higher level entities are not included here.

For each policy included in this manual, an office or position is designated as the academic affairs point-of-contact generally responsible for implementing the policy.  The academic affairs point-of-contact also authorizes exceptions, when appropriate, while maintaining standards within the policy hierarchy.

This manual serves as a resource for university administration, faculty, and staff and supplements its companion document, the University of Central Oklahoma Faculty Handbook, which encompasses policy directly related to faculty.  The university graduate and undergraduate catalogs communicate academic policy and degree requirements to students and the general public.  These policies are subject to change.  Additions and revisions are made periodically.
