Title: Interdisciplinary Minor Limitations Policy No: 4.5
Category: Academic Standards and Accreditation Effective: Fall 2001

Policy Statement:  An interdisciplinary minor consists of no more than nine hours from any single prefix area (e.g. HIST, ECON, HLTH).  Additionally, the courses applied to an interdisciplinary minor must be from a minimum of two academic departments.  An undergraduate student, regardless of major, may pursue an interdisciplinary minor from the approved list in the undergraduate catalog.

Background: The first two UCO interdisciplinary minors contained only one required course.  Original guidelines limited the electives to six hours in any single prefix area.  As additional minors in this category are being created, further definition is required.  The UCO undergraduate catalog contains the general policy on minors.

Purpose: Establish criteria for interdisciplinary minors.

Implementation Date: Fall Semester 2001

Related Procedures:

Coordinating Offices: Deans
