The mission of the Marketing Department
at the University of Central Oklahoma is to provide a dynamic
learning environment where students develop a personal lifelong
learning strategy. Students will be exposed to both academic
and practical experiences in marketing to equip them with
the intellectual and professional knowledge and skills necessary
for entry level and advanced marketing and business positions
in the regional, national, and global marketplace.
Marketing is people oriented - first
and foremost
Marketers perform various activities
in an organization that link the organization to the marketplace
outside.
Some of the more visible activities
marketers perform are advertising, customer service, personal
selling, sales promotion, publicity, public relations, merchandising,
and transportation.
Marketers also work behind the scenes
in: strategic planning, inventory control, purchasing, market
research, new product and market development, branding, and
forecasting.
